Both the New Hampshire House and State Senate have passed the bill extending protections to religious organizations in the state from having to recognize gay marriage. The Governor then officially signed the same-sex marriage bill along with two other bills which include those religious changes.
New Hampshire is the sixth state in the country to have legalized same-sex marriage, and only the third to have done so by legislative vote. This makes 12% of all states which now offer legalized same-sex marriage. The states with true equality for all of its citizens now include: Iowa, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Maine, and New Hampshire.
Congratulations to all of the people in New Hampshire. You've all won today, both gay and straight.
