Shannon Moakler Resigned Over Miss California

This video was from the press conference held the day before Donald Trump announced that Carrie Prejean would be allowed to keep her crown. The pageant directors were livid over the situation with the current Miss California. Keith Lewis and Shannon Moakler spoke on behalf of the Miss Universe organization.

They had very strong words for Miss California and the National Organization for Marriage. The next day, after the Donald Trump announcement, these two back-peddled big time. Keith Lewis drank the fruit-punch, and although, Shannon Moakler spoke from the same book at the time, her face told a different story -- she was not happy with the turn of events. The following day Shannon Moakler resigned. She is a strong supporter of gay rights and same-sex marriage. She said she no longer believes in the Miss Universe organization; and, I applaud her decision on principle alone. She did the right thing and that's something I can respect.

To quickly address Carrie Prejean, I just want to say that she may have won the battle but certainly has not won the war. At the Donald Trump news conference, she did pledge to not be a spokesperson against gay marriage, while still exercising her right to have an opinion on the subject. That was a smart move, whether it was forced upon her or not. If she continues to be a mouth-piece for NOM or continues to makes the anti-gay movement her crusade, that will be her downfall, as I have said before. Time will tell which path she chooses to take.
